Today my BP6 arrived. Will be trying it out over the summer.
Thanks!

I’m ordering the v2 enclosures and extra adapters for my existing BP5 - and I was thinking of ordering a BP6, to consolidate shipping. However, I’m not sure if I’m the target audience.

For end-users who are certainly not technical enough to develop their own features  or are struggling to follow some of the deeper discussions in this thread - are there any advantages to the BP6 over the BP5 right now?

For example - will it feel faster, whilst using the CLI? Or are there any other cool things?

It’s not critical. Here are the major benefits:

  • Follow Along Logic Analyzer - see exactly what happens, live, as you send commands to the bus. BP5 has this, but it’s a hack, it doesn’t reflect what is really happening on the other side of the buffer chips.
  • More RAM. This will be key in the coming year
  • A third PIO module. This will be needed for advanced features. Infrared mode for example already uses all available PIO and SMs.
  • Improved ADC - current measurement is much more stable.
  • OTP memory - not a huge deal, but we’re using it to make the experience more polished and customized.

Nothing is really must have, the 5 is great, but we will reach an inflection point where RP2040 Bus Pirates will have a reduced set of features compared to RP2350.
