These are readily available 9V to 2.5 (not 2.54mm) JST connector. Instead of the weird plastic leather and cardboard type of 9V clip, I got the version with a plastic body. Unfortunately that seems to have it’s own foibles (feels a clunky, the plastic creaks and snaps a bit).
Given that this is probably going to be a very low volume board I think this is probably sufficient.
