Hi, i am wondering if we would all benefit from having a different bucket for off-topic buspirate ish related situations or conversation. i am guilty of putting conversations inside conversations and then i am trying to find something someone said regarding a topic and find out its buried underneath something unrelated ;-| any takers, any admin’s cool with a new category?

One thing I miss (or haven’t figured out) is how to spin discussions off into a new topic. That’s a really nice way to managed asides, but I don’t think discourse has this feature.

I was also looking for the “reply in a new thread” feature. Discord has this. I guess discourse does not.

i remember from older discourse times that there was a feature “reply as linked topic”. you saw that something splitted off at the original post but from that point on it was a separate topic. Not sure if that feature just got stripped or if its just a setting that needs a toggle
(note to self: setup a quick discourse test instance locally once home to prod around there)

Makes it much easier to split off a “derail” without losing the starting point.
